HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU HAVE AN INSPECTION?

Even if there have been no reported incidents your racking can still suffer from ‘wear and tear’ that could lead to a sudden and catastrophic failure later on, it is advised to stick to a regular inspection schedule. Our inspection advice is:

EVERY 12 MONTHS

EVERY DAY USAGE AREAS

EVERY 6 MONTHS

HEAVIER TRAFFIC AREAS

REMEMBER : It is your responsibility to ensure that your racking is safe and that the welfare of your workers is protected by carrying out regular inspections.

Spartan Direct Ltd can fulfil all the Storage and Safety requirements of the warehouse operator.

Our approach is different to that of other companies, as we work with our customers long term to provide support in terms of ongoing maintenance, repairs and compliance with H & S requirements through our programme of scheduled Pallet Racking Safety Audits.

Our Audits cover the following as standard:

» Ensuring correct installation, application and use of equipment
» Confirm that the safe working loads are adhered to
» Confirm that the racking installation has not been altered from original specifications
» Detail the type and location of incidences of damage
» Check connectors of beams and the presence of beam safety clips
» Examine connectors for deformation or signs of cracking of the welded elements
» Confirm correct safe load signage

A typical racking report will cover the following:

» Detailed damage report recording all damage by location
» Damage colour coded according to SEMA reporting criteria
» Summaries by category allowing identification of urgent issues and prioritisation of remedial action
» ‘Red Risk notice’ issued for serious defects
» Notes on any other relevant issues
» In depth report on installation and specific issues highlighted in the damage report
» Comprehensive appendices providing essential reference material & technical data
» Guidance on ‘Best practice’
» Advice on general warehousing issues
